Icann Haz Copy
Please do not mass download files over HTTPS. For mirroring please use either rsync or sftp.
rsync is the preferred method for mirroring. Icann Haz runs an rsync server on TCP port 873. No password is required.
For a graphical frontend to rsync try grsync or grsyncx for Mac OS X.

Test before downloading anything using the '-n' switch.
rsync -nrtv icannhaz.org::ham .
When you are ready download everything (except audio) to your current directory.
rsync -rtv icannhaz.org::ham .
Specific directories can be singled out for downloading. Below we only download GAC Communiques.
rsync -rtv icannhaz.org::ham/soac/gac/com .
Specific directories can be excluded from downloading. Below we tell rsync to not download ICANN Correspondence.
rsync -rtv --exclude="ham/icann/cor/*" icannhaz.org::ham .
sftp is provided for users who wish to mirror over an encrypted connection. Icann Haz runs an sftp server on port 22. It's a bit slower than rsync and may require more fiddling to remain up-to-date. Cyberduck is a popular sftp client. Rclone provides archiving over sftp similar to rysnc.

Icann Haz Updates
Two atom feeds are updated when new items are added.
Icann Haz Character Recognition
Optical character recognition is done with pdfsandwich. PDFs that have been OCR'd end with _ocr.pdf. For example, if document.pdf requires OCR processing a new file called document_ocr.pdf will be created with text. Both files will be kept. We currently host 759 OCR'd files.
Icann Haz HTML
Archiving HTML is done with Monolith. Icann Haz is not a general purpose HTML archiver. Similarly to PDFs and other files archived from icann.org, Icann Haz focuses on content that is intended to be published once and remain unchanged. HTML content currently being archived is listed in Collections.
Icann Haz Local Search
Having a pile of PDFs on your local machine is great and all, but how do you find stuff in them? In no particular order, below are some applications that people tell me are good at this.
Icann Haz Dreams
The initial focus has been on low hanging fruit, below are some ideas for future improvements.
Icann Haz Mission
The primary mission of IcannHaz.org is to archive documentation from ICANN and its community that should remain immutable. IcannHaz.org is not interested in archiving files that regularly change or which are created with an intent that they be mutable. The secondary mission of IcannHaz.org is to notify the Internet Community when new documents are posted to icann.org and increase awareness of documents created by ICANN and its community.
